1. Who we are
Hamwic Engineering Limited is the controller of the personal information described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 3302513, at Unit G, Church Farm Business Units, Nursling, Southampton, SO16 0YB.

2. What we collect
We only collect what you give us or what we need to do business with you:
- Enquiries and correspondence: your name, company, email address, phone number and whatever you write to us.
- HamwiCAD downloads: your name, email address and (if you give it) company when you download HamwiCAD, which file you downloaded, when, and your IP address. If you tick the box, we also record that you want emails about new versions.
- Engineering work: contact details of client staff, and the drawings, specifications and site information you send us for a project.
- HamwiCAD licences: the licensee's name, the named user, email address, order and invoice details, the edition bought and the licence key issued.
- Support requests: your message and anything you choose to attach, such as screenshots or project files.
- Payments: invoice and remittance details. We do not store card numbers.
3. HamwiCAD software
HamwiCAD does not send information about you, your computer or your projects to us or to anyone else. It does not need an internet connection.
- Licence keys are checked on your computer; nothing is sent to us when you enter one.
- The free trial keeps its start date on your computer, tied to that computer's system identifier. That record stays on your computer.
- Your projects, drawings and settings stay where you save them.
If a future version ever needs to send any information, for example to check for updates or report a fault, it will tell you first and, where needed, ask for your agreement.
4. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We only send emails about new versions to people who asked for them, and every such email tells you how to stop them. We do not sell or rent personal information, or make decisions about you by automated means.
5. Who we share it with
Only where needed, and only with:
- our website and email hosting provider, Krystal Hosting Ltd, a UK hosting company;
- our accountants, bank and HMRC, for financial and tax records;
- professional advisers such as solicitors and insurers, where necessary;
- anyone the law requires us to share it with.
For engineering projects, information you send may be shared with others on that project, such as fabricators or approving bodies, as agreed with you.
If any of these suppliers stores personal information outside the UK, we make sure suitable safeguards are in place, as UK law requires.
6. How long we keep it
- Licence records: as long as the licence is in use, then 6 years.
- Invoices and accounting records: 6 years after the end of the financial year, as tax law requires.
- Project files and correspondence: up to 12 years after the project ends, because engineering records can be needed for liability and insurance purposes.
- Enquiries that don't lead to work, and support emails: up to 2 years.
- Download records: up to 2 years, unless you become a customer. If you asked for update emails, until you ask us to stop.
7. This website
This website sets no cookies and has no tracking or advertising. The only form is the HamwiCAD download form described above; its details are stored on our web server and emailed to us.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including your IP address and the pages you request, for security and to keep the site running.
- The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. Google describes how it handles this in its own privacy policy.
- To save you typing your details again, the download form remembers your name, email and company in your own browser (local storage). Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete it, where we no longer need it or have no legal reason to keep it;
- restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it based on legitimate interests;
- give it to you, or to someone else, in a common electronic format.
Email support@hamwic.com to make a request. There is normally no charge, and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Changes to this notice
We will update this page if the way we use personal information changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects HamwiCAD licence holders significantly, we will tell them by email.
